The movie The Snow Queen: Mirrorlands has become the only Russian movie to fight for the main award of the American movie festival The Niagara Falls International Film Festival.
We have to note that there only two animated movies among all the 60 selected films. The other animated feature to compete in the same category as The Snow Queen for the main prize is Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero produced by five countries: Ireland, Great Britain, France, Canada and the USA.
“It’s important for us that the program we have enables each guest of the Niagara Falls Festival to find the movie that will appeal to them,” noted John Wildman, the official representative of NFIFF. “Full of adventures, humor and life wisdom, The Snow Queen: Mirrorlands will certainly be loved by the young viewers as well as by their parents.”
The Snow Queen is not just the only Russian movie in the program of this year but also the first Russian film to enter the competition of the event. The most competitors are the movies of the USA or co-produced by the USA with other countries.
Yuri Moskvin, Wizart’s General Producer: “Just 10 years ago, Russian was almost never mentioned in the context of the global animation. Each nomination in the global territory help us not only understand how successful a certain project is but also put another spot on the animated world map. Every new festival doesn’t only assure us in the quality of our project but also stimulates us to devote even greater attention to our work and keep perfecting ourselves. We are happy that our movie is acknowledged not only by our viewers but also on the professional level.”
The international film festival in Niagara Falls (New York state, the USA) accepts works of cinema from the whole world. Except for the screenings, the event also includes a business program. This year, the festival will take place on September 18-21.
