Wizart Animation Studio has brought its unique project – the TV series “Snow Queen: Gerda and the Keepers of Wonders” – to the MIPCOM-2018

In the MIPCOM – the largest international TV content market held in Cannes – preceded by the children’s content market MIPJunior, Wizart Animation Studio presented its unique new project “Snow Queen: Gerda and the Keepers of Wonders” at the Made in Russia stand and with the support of  the Russian Export Center.

Wizart Animation’s new project “Snow Queen: Gerda and the Keepers of Wonders” adapts the loved characters of the globally famous “The Snow Queen” franchise to the TV show format. Gerda, Kai, Alfida – whom the audience already knows very well – and a new character, the Snow Queen’s little daughter named Icy, will be shown as little children here. Each episode is a finished adventure story, in which the heroes don’t only overcome obstacles and fight with evil but also set an example of kindness and honesty and show how one should act in difficult situations. In each episode, Icy, as a new person to this world, learns how to live with friends and what she can or can’t do. By the end of 2020, it is planned to produce 52 episodes in 3D format, 11-minute long each. The show is targeted at the children’s audience of 6-9 years old.

The director of the project is Aleksey Zamyslov, the screenwriters are Andrey Korenkov. Aleksey Zamyslov and Vladimir Nikolaev. The producers of the series are Yuri Moskvin and Vladimir Nikolaev.

Aleksandra Modestova, official representative of Reed Midem company (organizer of the markets MIPJunior and MIPCOM) in Russia, Ukraine and the CIS countries:

“MIPJunior and MIPCOM, held last week, showed that the Russian animation has achieved significant results on the international level. The presentation Made in Russia, organized with the support by the Russian Export Center, presented the best projects of the coming five years,” comments Aleksandra Modestova. “They include the animated TV series “Snow Queen: Gerda and the Keepers of Wonders” by Wizart Studio,” continues Aleksandra.

“The animated show “Snow Queen: Gerda and the Keepers of Wonders” continues the franchize, which has already gained popularity in many countries globally, including China and France. We’re delighted that it’s MIPJunior the company chose to hold the presentation of this project for international buyers,” she sums up.

“The studio has had a very thorough approach to the project development,” Yuri Moskvin, Wizart’s General Producer, comments. “During the latest three years, from market to markets, there were a lot of surveys among the permanent distributors of animated features, besides the market trends and potential co-producers’ opinions were taken into account. So, now the series is finally launched!” he concludes.

“As a fan of the charming Snow Queen features, I am excited to support the creation of a new TV series “Snow Queen: Gerda and the Keepers of Wonders”,” Shelley Page (Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon and other animation hits), animation consultant and Wizart Animation’s international representative, shares her impressions. “The series will take the beloved characters into new situations and further expand their world for a TV audience,” Shelley Page sums up.

“I’m very happy that we’ve solved this creative challenge in this way – adapt our beloved characters to the format of a TV show and leave them recognizable,” tells Vladimir Nikolaev, Wizart Animation’s Executive Producer. “As a result, now our young viewers don’t have to wait for another Snow Queen franchise movie for two more years — instead they can enjoy seeing their favorite characters in the format of 52 episodes, 11-minute long each,” Vladimir Nikolaev concludes.
