Victory of the short movie KITTEN FROM LIZYUKOV STREET 2 at an Indian festival

The animation classics brought to the contemporary style – the Kitten From Lizyukov Street 2 movie by Wizart Animation has won the Best Animation award at the Kolkata Shorts International Film Festival (KSIFF).Kitten From Lizyukov Street 2 is a sequel to the famous movie of the same name, made by Soyuzmultfilm in 1988. The new movie was created by the Voronezh studio Wizart Animation, already known to the Russian audience by its other projects, such as The Snow Queen (a series of feature animated movies), Sheep and Wolves, and others. We’d like to add that Kitten From Lizyukov Street 2 was made in co-production with Soyuzmultfilm.

So, in the movie Kitten From Lizyukov Street 2, the Crow’s magic “caw” spell takes Vaska and Bulka from wintertime Voronezh, where they feel very cold, to the country where it’s always hot – Australia. There Vaska meets kangaroos, koalas, wombats, ostriches and has to run for his life to flee from the shark and crocodile. Then the kitten invites his new friends to his hometown Voronezh.

The sequel is based on the second fairytale by Vitaliy Zlotnikov, a children’s author as well as the screenwriter for the first Kitten From Lizyukov Street short, who was born in Voronezh.

The animated movie Kitten From Lizyukov Street 2 has the 3D format. Vaska the Cat has become fluffy and three-dimensional.

“The animated movie Kitten From Lizyukov Street 2 is, no doubt, a project that is very important to us and which we treated in the most passionate and meticulous way possible. The classics of the Soviet animation has gone through new interpretation and acquired the 3D format – the kitten has become more contemporary, keeping up with the times. We hope this movie will become a significant event for children, just like its predecessor,” comments Yuri Moskvin, General Producer for Wizart.

The animated movie is made in accordance with the full-length movie principles. Even Wizart Animation workers’ children took part in the dubbing.

“We, animators, are children in in heart. So, by creating our animation, we can bring to life things that the real world lacks. It’s hard to make a little child sit still and listen to life teachings, but animation can inculcate nice and kind ideas in their mind in a light unimposing way, which is exactly what we’re trying to achieve. Kitten From Lizyukov Street 2 is a brand of our hometown Voroznezh. The movie involves some new funny characters that speak with children in the language they easily understand,” adds Aleksey Zamyslov, the director.
