Universal Pictures will be responsible for the European distribution of The Snow Queen: Mirrorlands

The Russian animation studio Wizart has reached an agreement about new partnerships with Universal Pictures Video France and KLB SAS.

The distributors have acquired rights for The Snow Queen: Mirrorlands with the guaranteed wide theatrical release in France, the Principalities of Andorra and Monaco, in the French-speaking territories of Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Africa.

It is worth noting that the previous agreement also was concluded within the European Film Market in Berlin last year, so on February 14 KLB SAS and Universal Pictures Video France are releasing the third movie of the Snow Queen franchise.  The same European companies were distributing the first two movies of the franchise, but it is the first animated movie by Wizart to be shown in the movie theaters with the support by the French partners.

“The largest world distributor Universal Pictures was also supporting the Russian release of The Snow Queen 3: Fire and Ice at the end of 2016. We are happy to continue our partnership with Universal Pictures in the French-speaking territories too. So, the movie premiere on the February 14 was preceded by the big promotional campaign, the Internet, radio, advertising outdoor. La Belle Company is the theatrical distributor; the partners of the distribution are Nickelodeon France, the popular magazine Femme Actuelle and the radio station RFM. This week a lot of European viewers can already see the new story about the adventures of Gerda and her friends. So, it is very important for us now, when the distribution of the third movie begins, to have the guarantee of the next Snow Queen franchise movie release,” says Yuri Moskvin, the General Producer of Wizart.

The fourth Snow Queen animated feature is to be released in December 2018 in Russia. Earlier the theatrical exhibition rights were sold to South Korea, Poland and Turkey.

The directors of The Snow Queen: Mirrorlands are the franchise veteran Aleksey Tsitsilin and the world animation master Robert Lence, known for his work in the projects Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story and Shrek.

In the new story Gerda sets out to save the holders of the magic powers, trapped in Mirrorlands. Not to let the fairytales disappear from our life, Gerda has to team up with the Snow Queen.
